A 4 day course designed to teach candidates how to carry out reduction and thinning operations and other tree maintenance tasks whilst in the crown of the tree.

A 4 day course designed to teach candidates how to carry out reduction and thinning operations and other tree maintenance tasks whilst in the crown of the tree.

Entry Requirements:

  • Candidates will need to bring one passport sized photograph, a waterproof coat and over-trousers ( course will continue even in rain). Candidates should bring chainsaw PPE, a full climbing kit, a top handled saw, a hand saw with scabbard. Any equipment shortfalls will be provided.

Course content:

  • Risk Assessment and Legislation
  • Identify, inspect and comment upon key parts of the equipment to be used
  • Prepare the equipment for use ensuring the safety of themselves and others
  • Identify environmental factors that may be present
  • Undertake hazard assessment of tree to be worked upon
  • Access tree and movement around tree
  • Work positioning techniques whilst operating Chainsaw and other pruning tools
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pruning operations
  • Carry out appropriate cutting techniques using chainsaw and other pruning tools
